Professor Rakatansky | Semester VII Final Design Project:
The goal was to find a program/institute that needed a reformation and address "what's at stake?" After researching, I came across an article from the residents of Canarsie advocating for a ferry station only a few months prior. It came to my census that by reforming the Canarsie Pier, it would better the Canarsie community located Southeast of Brooklyn.
Upon visiting the site in person, I noticed the abundance of fisherman with little to no additional program on the pier. This led to the theme for the ferry station and fishing market to be centered around fish and the history of fish in the Canarsie community.

The plan follows a three-act structure:
First Act: Fishing Education: Dedicated towards quiet activities for the fisherman.
Second Act: Producing and Purchasing: where you can learn more about how to cook and purchase fish and other food.
Third Act: Departure: Learning more about the functionality and use value of the ferry and ferry station.
Midterm Presentation Boards (11/2/23)
Studio VII Goal:
Implement a program that addresses what's at stake with its corresponding site location. Then how does the design development solve the issue by evolving its former institutional theme?
